Is there seriously snow on the ground outside when I was just in Florida a day ago?
Miss Mother Nature definitely has a sick sense of humor…
Well, even though I can’t say that it’s good to be back in the cold, it does feel good to be back home after a little getaway over the past weekend. My girlfriend, Jen and I decided to randomly jet set from NY to Florida for a little Vitamin D. We left Friday night and came back Sunday night since neither of us could take a day off from work; I wasn’t sure if this would be enough time to actually feel relaxed but it was P.E.R.F.E.C.T.
Just in case you were wondering, my anxiety levels of flying stand-by was subsided after a few cocktails and Jen telling me to RREEEEELAXX, so no worries there...

I always tend to pack with the best intentions in mind; a pair of workout clothes for each day but then I get distracted by all of the pretty palm trees and drinks = lazy bum status. It's the thought that counts right? Well, since I was only in Florida for technically two days I wondered if I would even have time or the motivation to workout. Well, wonder no more because I ran approximately 10 miles in two days!! That’s not even counting all of the walking around that we did both days.
As soon as we checked in Friday night, I asked the hotel if there happened to be a specific running path in the area... the running gods shined down on me (commence: dramatic music) and my prayers were answered, YES there was! The lady even gave me this little card with all of the details = a happy me! As long as I had a plan this neurotic planner was set!
Saturday: 5.25 Miles = BAM! Take that Florida!
When I say that this must have been the nicest running path that I’ve ever been on it’s no joke! At first, I got a little lost finding my way since there were quite a few bridges (and I do NOT have the best sense of direction) but once I found Bayshore Blvd, I was in heaven. It’s basically an endless 10 foot sidewalk along the water… I mean really? The best part was that there were so many other people out taking in the sun and getting a workout in. It’s so motivating to me when I see everyone out wanting to accomplish the same things as me.
During my run something big was actually going on in Tampa called the Children's Gasparilla Pirate Festival. Now, I’m not from Tampa so I had NO idea what this meant (and I think the man looked at me like I had ten heads when I asked) but supposedly the actual Gasparilla (which is this coming weekend in Tampa) is a H.U.G.E. deal, kind of like a Mardi Gras. We didn’t stay to watch the actual parade but it was interesting watching everyone get ready… oh and I spotted a Chobani truck ha!

Saturday evening, we went out to Channelside and Ybor City which was definitely an interesting night… I’ll leave it at that ;)

We were slightly hungover this morning but didn’t let it stop us. I even convinced Jen to NOT run on the treadmill in the stinky hotel gym and to run outdoors with me. Why would you EVER want to run on a treadmill (especially in a hotel) when you can run along the water with palm trees everywhere!?!?!? Needless to say I pushed her to run with me and she did! This run was a little shorter mainly because we were hurting a little bit but it was still just as nice! There were even a few dolphins swimming right alongside of us which was SO cool and actually kind of made my day.
After our workout we treated ourselves to a delicious brunch! I love that Florida has healthy options everywhere! I ordered a Tri-Athlete which was an egg white omelet w/peppers, onions and mushrooms… a fruit salad and an English muffin = #NomNomNom = #IInhaledIt = #FatGirlStatus

I still can’t believe that it was only two days, I felt so relaxed when it was over and
thought to myself that I definitely need to do that more.
Life is too short!
Nutrition wise, while I was away I was relatively healthy minus the abundance of drinking and a splurge at this cute chocolate shop hehe.
BUUUTTTTT, Considering I worked out both days I don’t feel e.x.t.r.e.m.e.l.y guilty!

For the next 28 days I'm on a mission to lose 4% of my starting weight!
I will be posting my progress on here
Have a Happy Rest of Your Tuesday!

Looks like a fabulous trip!! Thanks for sharing!
