Afternoon T.M.I. and Sweets for Your Friday

Dear Friday, how I’ve missed you so…

This has been one hell of a week for my body as she has not been too nice to me.

Have you ever had one of those weeks where it seems like it’s one thing after another? Well, that has been my story this week when it comes to my health.  I consider myself to be a relatively healthy person so when I get sick I know that it is not good.

After finally coming down from a nasty cold that lingered for about 2 weeks I was finally feeling strong enough to take on a week full of all morning workouts, seemed do-able at the time…

Warning: This may be T.M.I. for some of you but this is my blog and it’s about my life which I like to be as honest as possible.

I finally think Miss Karma came back around to bite me in the ass… for basically telling my friends and family (out of love, of course) to ‘kiss my ass.’
yep...
Story Time: Friday night I had one of the most annoying pains in my tail bone, yes – my.tail.bone.  I’ve battled with this annoyance on and off for the past year basically assuming that the pain is the result of sitting all day causing a lot of pressure on the bone (the glamorous life of an accountant).   Come Saturday morning I woke up exhausted because no matter what I did I couldn’t rid the pain all night.  Obviously, this wasn’t something new to me but it has never lasted a whole night.  As soon as I woke up I decided enough was enough and I needed to know what the deal was with my damn annoying ass, so I made an appointment. But first, although I was still walking kind of funny (I’m so attractive), I pushed myself to make it to the gym.  Now you might be saying to yourself, what are you crazy? As my mom definitely did as I was leaving the house but, NO I am not crazy. I know this pain as I’ve had it before and I knew that the way to alleviate the pain was to move around and put no pressure on it (i.e. do not sit).  The workout went fine, just like I thought but as soon as we went down to do abs I shot right back up, HELL NO - I could not sit, let alone do abs.

Conclusion: After a very awkward doctor visit (hey doc, I have a pain in my ass – what the heck is it?), I have been basically diagnosed with coccydynia and my professional googling skills are now confirmed.

What is Coccydynia?  From how I understand it, it’s like having a bruised tail bone.

How is it caused? Apparently it’s unknown but some causes have been listed as abrupt sitting or stress.  I definitely did not ‘abruptly’ sit and even though I do have stress (who doesn’t?), I highly doubt that it would be at the level that would cause my body harm. Basically, it's unknown why I have this.  I do know that it is brought on by sitting to much or sitting in a way that puts enormous amounts of pressure on that point.

What can you do?  Not much, I honestly just took an advil and moved around all day. I’m lying… now don’t laugh (because I did in my doctors face) but, my doctor actually wrote me out a prescription.  I literally asked him, why are you writing a prescription? He then handed it to me and out loud I go REALLY? A DONUT? Yes, that happened everyone… I, a 27 year old female just got a prescription for a donut.  I almost died I was laughing so hard (internally because he probably would of kicked me out since I was being slightly immature – I.was.in.shock).  Long story short, I gave the script to my mom and it has yet to be filled.  I do not ever see myself bringing a donut to work to sit on haha and luckily my pain was gone the next day.  Why is life such a sick joke? #SuchIsLife
Preach it kid...
*** What I did learn is that, if this pain lasts longer than a week then you need to go back to the doctor because, it could be something more serious.  Luckily, this was not the case for me since by Sunday I was feeling 100%.  If you want to use your professional googling skills you can find an abundance of information online.

You would think that would be enough torture for one week, right? Wrong.  I then came down with the stomach virus on Monday which, the nausea has basically lingered with me this whole week causing me to not feel my strongest – causing my workouts or lack there of, to be non existent.

What can you do right?

Life happens and there are things that we cannot control.  I made it to the gym twice this week and honestly, I only made it because it was my personal training sessions that I was too lazy to cancel.  The workouts were fine but I didn’t do much before or after (I usually do cardio) so, I’m just not happy with myself this week.  I love exercise; it’s such a natural endorphin and gives me such a high (the best kind).  On the plus side, my nutrition hasn’t been horrible as I’ve been trying to be really good considering the lack of calorie burn.

But did you know that today is FRIDAY??? Say WHAT?? This week is OVER and I will be at the gym tomorrow at 7 a.m. SHARP!! It’s time to turn around this icky funk that my body is in and to start torturing her with some intense sweat sessions.
Sunrise, after my morning workout

OH -REWIND, have you ever worked out with sandbags? Well, that’s just what I did this morning! My trainer always has such interesting workouts planned but, today was one of the best.  She had two different kinds - a smaller one, 6lbs… and a larger one, 20lbs.  We did a few moves, but my favorite was when I was kneeling on the ground (one leg up) - she would throw me the 20lb sandbag, I’d catch it (hopefully)… pull it over my shoulder then slam it on the ground! Best stress reliever haha, I loved it!!! I got even more excited when I learned that she is going to be using these in this class that I may be taking in the new year! I love learning new, innovative ways to exercise!  Tomorrow, I’ll actually get to see what this new class is going to be all about! Don’t, worry I will report back J.

Check out some of the yummy creations that I made last night (instead of sweating – bad girl).  Tonight is my girlfriends, little Holiday Party and I took the responsibility of dessert (obviously).

A little bit of leopard to spice it up ;)
She requested there be at least one ‘non-healthy’ dessert haha so I obeyed.  I made these Red Velvet Cheesecake Brownies, which I found the recipe off of Pinterest (LOVE Pinterest).  The second recipe, PB Oatmeal Sanwich Cookies which I found off of FitSugar (LOOVVEEE FitSugar – my favorite app) was my healthy choice for the dessert.  Both came out DELICIOUS!  The brownies are a definite belly bomb as I felt 10lbs heavier after just one but the cookies – O.M.G.  They are a basic oatmeal type of cookie with a little vanilla flavoring but, the topping is HEAVEN (singing).  All the topping is, is mashed bananas, peanut butter and honey – I mean seriously? That is the best combination ever (I’m fine just eating that.. I may have had a spoon fill or two…).
