What a beautiful day! Since I'm just sitting here feeling like a waste of space while waiting for my car to get fixed, I figured I'd post a little blog entry!
So what's been on my mind these past few days you may ask? Well, as many of you know, I gave up meat (except fish) for lent. 40 days without chicken, I was SO nervous at first whether I'd be able to do it! I mean I was never a real red meat eater to begin with so my only real issue was chicken! My go to 'healthy' meal was always chicken and veggies, so that had to change!
When it was all over and done with, I did it! I did however have one slip up... Coming home from my Miami trip I was stuck in the airport with not really many options. I caved and had a chicken wrap.. You live and you learn ;).
Well, since Easter has passed, this week I've been seriously contemplating giving up meat for the long hall. It just isn't as appealing to me anymore, and I've also read up on the disadvantages of having meat in your diet as opposed to a plant based diet. Now, I don't claim to be an expert on this topic, I'm just basing my opinion on how my body has been responding.
I noticed a big difference in my energy level, for the better... And my skin also cleared up a great deal! Now, I'm not going to sit here and call myself a "vegetarian," but I'm going to try to wean myself in that direction! But, I don't think I can let go of fish.. I kind of love sushi lol!
To all my vegetarians out there, what made you decide to switch over??
What are some of the changes you noticed in your body after you switched??
I'm confused as to why some vegetarians still eat fish and still call them self a Vegetarian??
I'll take any advice I can get! :)
Have a beautiful Saturday!

Congrats on joining the veggie world! I've been a vegetarian (or pescatarian) for a little over 2 years and I have much more energy than I did before. I think the main idea is to replace the meat in your diet with nutrient-rich foods. I never feel deprived, if anything I think I have tried so many more delicious foods since I went veggie. Read "Eating Animals" or anything by Michael Pollan and Mark Bittman.
ReplyDeleteVegetarians that eat fish are called pescatarians :)
ReplyDeleteI think it would be a little hard for me to be a vegan. I love vegetable. I even love tempeh and tofu and fish than chicken and meat. But to switch my life, the rest of it, to be a vegan is probably just not my thing. However if you have decided, stick on it. If you think this is better for you, you won't sorry for doing it :)
