Happy Fitness Friday Everyone!!

 

So you ever hear the term 'Gym Rat?'
Here's a little definition from http://www.urbandictionary.com/:

Gym Rat:

One who spends entirely too much time partaking in muscle building, strength training, cardiovascular, or aerobic activity. Specifically, one who does so at a health club or gym.

Often used derogatorily by people who do not partake in or understand this lifestyle, some self-proclaimed gym rats use the term as a status symbol or for positive reinforcement. 
Well, I must say I am one lucky girl because I surround myself with other ‘Gym Rats.’  It’s nice to have such positive, healthy people around you! The reason why I’m discussing this today is because not only did I #RiseandGrind this morning at 5:30a.m. … BUT I did so mainly because of my friends! We all committed last night to meet this morning and get an early a.m. workout in! This motivation alone helped me roll out of bed at the crack of dawn just a little easier! It was so nice walking into the gym and seeing my friends already on the treadmill!

By surrounding yourself with such positive people who share the same interests as yourself, you are keeping yourself accountable! You’re also motivating others, even if you don’t see it right away!


Here are some ways you can get involved and make a new
Gym Rat’ circle!

  • Sign up for a new program that your gym may be running! For Example: I just signed up for the new VIPR classes!
  • Join a running club! Pick a race and start training! I’m sure you’ll meet others who will train with you!
  • Try a new class at your gym! Don’t be afraid to get in there and try something new! No one will be judging you, everyone is focusing on themselves!
  • http://www.meetup.com/ is also a great outlet where you can find other individuals who share the same interests!

You’ll be surprised how easy it is!
